Further Infomation:
GRACE WALLIS----Glass Artist and Designer.
My major source of inspiration is COLOUR THROUGH LIGHT
I explore these possibilities when designing for stained glass.
Stained glass can be used as a flat panel but can also be constructed for 3 D. sculptures and lamps.
Natural forms and reflective surfaces fascinate me, but I also make use of the media for inspiration
I use them to create my ideas and work from a small pocket sketchbook, which I always carry with me. Then I can apply my ideas and adapt them to suit whatever project I am designing for.
I always start by working in layers of vibrant colour, and then overlapping shapes to produce more subtle colours.
Much consideration is given to customer specification.
Should more traditional stained glass design be desired then of course I can produce work with historical attributes.
I was first trained in Fine Art Illustration, Print- making and Painting; I worked as a teacher and lecturer in Essex and Suffolk. Later I worked as a Freelance Illustrator for children `s book publishers.
More recently I trained in Stained Glass under Paul San Casciani at. Oxford. Over the last 30 years I have exhibited my work in London, East Anglia and the West Country and commissioned to do stained glass for public buildings.
Currently I am based at Mistley Quay Gallery Workshops where I produce stained glass for customers who commission me to make stained glass panel’s .a few are shown here on this web sight.
As you can see I am making stained glass artefacts to suit all tastes and styles from traditional lead panels to the latest techniques in fused glass
